Well any excuse to make stuff and decorate is o'k with me :-)  Easter decoration's bring a touch of Spring colour even though outside it is freezing cold and snowing!!  I have taken some pictures of what I have put out in my house this year. There are some instructions and links.

3 layers make them more fluttery

One of my Geese lay's me the most amazing eggs.  I  "blew" the inside out, hard work as goose egg is very gelatinous.  You need to use PVA type "size" as egg shell is porus to get a decent sticky base for the gilding flakes.  This measures 3 inches high without the stand (a napkin ring) amazing to look at and eat :-)

Gilding Flakes and die cutting

 The item trending right now seems to be Gilding flakes, they are coming into most craft stores in various guises.  I have some bags of flakes I bought years ago for gilding mirror's and for home furnishing project's.  So I thought I would use some for my cards today.

I use Zig memory pens as my" size", the type that goes on blue when adhesive and then clear when removable.  It makes a perfect "grab" for flakes and takes seconds to be ready to use.  Perfect for Miss Impatient here :-)

The flowers are from a pack of Tim Holtz Grungeboard pre-cut die shapes, gilded.

 Die's used are a mix of, Marianne, Spellbinders, Cheery Lyn etc etc

To Gild:
Coat with Zig glue
Wait for a few minutes for the glue to go clear
Rub on the flakes and use a soft brush to burnish and remove any excess.  Save this for using again.  Beware don't cough or breathe too heavy it goes everywhere...lol

I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the border and sanded it.  I love the mica sheen you get from the Twinkling H2O paints

I think this is an old Crafty Individuals Stamp, H2O's  painted, old book page and die cut border and frame

Cut the frame twice and cut the background one in half to create a shadow effect

Cupcake stand Daiper/Nappy cake

 

I needed a gift for the new baby so as I have made these before I made a Nappy (Daiper) cake.  I tried a new idea, rather than use a cake board I used a cupcake stand that I got for a good price and it is pink so all good there.

roll and secure each nappy with a rubber band

Place round the bottom of the stand and secure with a ribbon

make a band with pretty paper and slide over

Decorate with a design.  I cut this on my Cricut using New Arrival cart and K & CO papers, add ribbon and trimmings

Make a smaller band and fill with baby things, I added a toy, onesie's and a hat and mittens

Wrap in cellophane and tie with a bow

I also made a card using the leftover papers and diecuts.

Organza flowers

How to make Organza/tulle flowers with your Cuttlebug/Grand Calibre etc, heat gun and brads, buttons or other center piece

Choose your fabric, rolls of tulle/organza can be purchased cheaply from florists and Ebay

Cut circles either by hand or using dies

Cut circles these are about 3" but any size will do it depends how big you want your flowers.  This size measures approx 1 3/4 to 2 inches when done

This is my old stamping mat but any foam could be used (watch out for fumes wear a mask or sit back)  Pin in several places to stop it moving and to save your fingers burning. Wave your heat gun over the edges, work fast or it will make holes!!  Practice makes perfect.  You can also do it with a candle flame if you don't have a heat gun.  Keep going till it ruffles as much as you want it to

Single layers frilled.  Any holes may be hidden by other layers so don't worry if you get some

Finished flower with a crystal brad in the center, you could use buttons etc

You can use organza ribbon too, these will make smaller flowers  the bonus is it may be patterned to give extra interest to your finished item

Inside of the card the house makes the "stop" for the easel

The wording is printed on clear Safmat and the glossy accents over to keep it from peeling.  The edges are stamped with Kaisercraft's Lace stamp and embossed with pink powder
