Something a bit different !!

As you may have noticed I found the edge tool to frame my photo's, its given them a nice Christmas feel :-) I just can't work out why it loses one of the edges on some, ahh well I will work it out at some point.

Well these cards are completely different to anything I have made before. I saw these papers and just loved them. They are by Blonde Moments, maybe what I was having when I bought them lol. They are such bright colours and funky images. I think they would work well as "men" cards (well apart from maybe the pink snowman) as they are not to "pretty" and in a strange way suited to the boys. The stamps for the snowman card by the way are by Paper Artsy and work so well with these papers. Apart from some plain cardstock everything else is from the paper stack.

Let me know what you think about them.

Decoration Tags thingies :-)

Cut an assortment of circles with nestabilities or other scallop circle punch. Cut to the centre of 4 of the circles. glue the flap under to make a 3 sided shape as shown and glue this 4 together sides to sides
Cut 2 large circles and 2 smaller circles in half and make them into cone shapes then glue them inside each other to make each quarter, like this

now add ds tape to the back add some ribbon and cover with another circle to finish it or make another and glue them back to back to make a ball shaped one

For the mini cone version flat one sided, cut 5 small circles in half and make cones as before. Glue 6 to a base circle to make the bottom layer than add 3 more above them and attach ribbon as beforeHere are some others I have made

Christmas Lantern Gift Box

This is the Lantern pattern from the Trimcraft website magazine. The instrucions are all on there. I actually enlarged it on my copier to make a larger lantern. I thought it would make some good gift boxes stuffed with sweeties or smellies :-) I used nestabilities to cut the window, if you fold each piece it is thin enough to fit in the Cuttlebug and you can cut 2 windows at a time (depending on the paper thickness) I also cut the acetate for behind the windows but a thinner one will cut through through better than the one I used.

I used K & Co papers from the seasonal double sided stack and papermania for the blue one. The tag is from the co-ordinating tin of tags and embellishments.

I wanted to use the leftover papers and nestie circles so rather than a plain tag I made these one sided and full circle baubles. They could be hung on the tree after.

I will go and do some pictures and post how to make them here shortly so please call back if you would like to see that :-) thanks for calling

Oh joy my new Cosmic Shimmer mists have arrived so I nearly have the full palete. I couldn't wait to try them out so I made a whole heap of papers with them. I have made some into cards and all of these here have papers made by me the only other is cardstock for the bases. I just love the sheen you get with them and you never really know what you will get. I used at least 3 colours per paper some a lot more. Mainly I just misted and squidged (technical term there) and I also tried the plastic bag method which was good. You open 3 sides of a bag (the sort you put your cards for sale in is best) squirt ink onto it and put some card inside and press. Very easy.Cosmic Shimmer Mists Used
- Aqua Lagoon, Golden Fish, Golden Mint, Lava Red, Mango Blaze, Meadow Lush, Midnight Blue, Peackock Green, Purple Violet, Silver, Plum Twist, Bilberry Crush, Mallow Blush and Candy Pink. Phew theres a lot more than I thought and I am still missing a few.

Stamps are Illusive Images/Graphicus - Seashore and Peacock unmounted plates. Stazon, Versamark and Momento inks and clear and black embossing powders

As promised here is the result of my "playday" :-) The canvas is about 10" x 8"

Semi Instructions:-

Prepare the canvas by painting with Gesso or white paint is fine to prime the canvas. Then paint with acrylics, I used Antique Gold and Copper by Americana paints. While the paint is still wet I threw!! some glitter and micro beads over it to add colour and texture.

The Elements as follows-

Copper sheet (real) and Stazon inks are used thoughout.

** For each element I cut a piece of heavy card to make a mount and a piece of copper slightly larger. Place the copper over the card and chosen embellishment if used and then bend the sides under which holds the card in place. Use heavy duty D/S tape to attach the metal to the card and the finished element to the canvas.

The Skull
stick a Tim Holtz grungeboard skull to the card then place the copper over the top. Go round the shape embossing with metal work tools to outline and show all the details. Ink with black Staz
on and dab with tissue for the colour add red pearl gems for the eyes.

The House
**basics as before. Run the metal through the Cuttlebug using the Halloween House folder. Edge the piece with a metal tool texture roller. Inked using wet and dry foam with Stazon in Green, Burnt Orange and Brown

Word
Write a spooky word onto the metal with an embossing tool, remember you have to write it back to front so on the right side it is spelt right. Emboss round the word from the from which helps to pop the embossing forward and with a texture tool round the edge. Ink with Orange Stazon

The Pumpkins
Cuttlebug folder used for this one, embossed as before with Orange and Burnt Orange Stazon inks

Halloween
Take a strip of card long enough for your word as the mount. Letters are grungeboard from the basic elements set. Stick the letters to the card I used a strip of d/s tape as it wont show so no need to be neat here its just to hold them in place. Then use a strip of adhesive copper roll or metal sheet if you don't have that. (Its bought from a hardware store in the plumbing supplies section!!) Carefully emboss round it with your tool be careful as it may tear. It helps if you start away from the letter and work towards it so that the copper stretches. If you get a hole its no big deal as the inks will hide it most times :-) Use your fancy tool for the edge again. Then its rubbed over with Stazon Dark Brown and Black for the tops of the letters

Spiders Web

follow instruction for other cuttlebug elements.
Arrange the pieces on your prepared canvas, stick them on with the extra strong tape and that's it:-)

Leftovers

When you buy the packs of Basic Grey collections you always get a sheet of letters or diecuts etc in there. I had 2 sheets one from Blush and one from Infuse (tags and flowers). I never use these they just sit around gathering dust :-( so my challenge to myself today was to use them up. I took two sheets of brown cardstock, some gems and stickles, ribbon and distress inks and my favourite Personal Impressions Swirl stamp sets. I made it all up into, one card topper, some small note cards and a few gift tags and these are the results.

***********

Tomorrow my friend is coming to "play" and we are trying out our new Metal Craft Tools by Walnut Hollow. I decided to get ahead and made a couple of sketches of what I want to try making with mine. No surprises that it has a Halloween Theme. I plan to do this as a Canvas wall mount using metal, embossing, freehand drawing, inks etc. Please call back soon to see if I managed to make anything that looks like the sketch :-)
