Magnetic Nestabilities folder

This little folder is a quick project I made today to store my Nesties in.

The magnet is from my Xyron Creative station but you can buy magnet sheets lots of places now quite cheaply if you look around. CD/DVD pockets from a record store, Card, papers and glue.

  1. Cut 2 covers from mount board (or any thick card) at 6" x 6" and cover with your chosen paper
  2. cut strips of firm card to make the spines at 5" x 1 3/4" and stick one to the back of each plastic folder, I used ultra sticky tape.
  3. Bind with your bind it all or use rings (you can add more pages easier that way if needed) I like the bound option.
  4. Make a strip of folded paper (for strength) and use brads to attach this to the front as a closure
  5. Make another strip to fix from back to front which will slide under the closure to keep the book closed as shown and attach with brads
  6. Cut pieces of magnet sheet at 5"x5" and put your nesties on and put in the pockets
  7. Add decoration as you wish and thats it :-)
Any questions please feel free to ask and I will be happy to help :-)

2009 List

I forgot to post this last week. This is The List for this years Christmas Organising. I have added pages for Cards, Presents, Food etc. I printed some out on the PC, made pockets for receipts, stamps and other bits. I bought this tab book but it made me see just how much I need a deep cut housing for my Cricut so I can make my own. The papers are Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses. It only took about an hour but will save me loads of time in the long run :-)

Halloween giveaway

Congrats to Jude who has won this R.A.K
thanks to all who entered for it. I will post another soon
xx

I made this as a thank you "pay it forward" gesture to all my UK blog viewers. I recently was awarded a prize for a card I made so felt the need to give something back.

You will get a Halloween Pocket Album, a selection of Cricut shapes and tags and I may also add a set of stamps to customise this as you wish. All you need to do is leave a comment here and I will draw it in a couple of weeks but will send it in good time for Halloween.

I think it would not arrive in the States so sorry to leave you guys out this time :-( please forgive that.

Trick or Treat

Party Favours for fun, made with two little 2 1/4" boxes paper boxes covered with ribbon, paint and paper. A concertina joined with ribbon, Kay & Co letters and assorted stickers. Icut the circles on my Cricut and welded some for the backing paper string of circles.

This is the Halloween photo album I made today. It spells GHOST but its a bit hard to see all the letters. Its just a bit of fun for the children to put their Halloween party photo's in. I used Kay & Co papers & embellishments, Core'dinations cardstock, Bind-it all, ribbons and stickers. Cricut cuts for the pages made with Winter Woodland for the letters, Plantin Schoolbook for the pages and Paper Doll Dress Up for the other cuts. Drippy Goo Martha Stewart punch for blood and Cuttlebug halloween folders to emboss the backgrounds, inks, glue etc

Birthday Planner

Made this along the same lines as the year planner but with just days and months so it can be used for longer. Similar instructions are on previous posts and the papers are K and Co again. I haven't put all the pages on as they are like the previous ones. Ooops need to fix that corner :-(

Year Desk Planner (inst added)

All sizes are for this one but you can adjust it to your personal taste to make smaller or larger versions. This is quite easy to do but takes time as it involves a fair bit of cutting but if you cut all the pieces first and then assemble it it makes it easier

Materials used:
  • Heavy Card - I used old cereal packaging and covered the printed side before covering with designer papers so it would not show through but you can use any sturdy card you have.
  • Designer Papers K & Co from a Boxed Collection called Classics
  • Cricut and carts, Storybook for number and front panel, assorted images from Indie Art, Celebrations and Home Accents for embellishment for each month
  • Bind-it All and wires (size depends on your preferences but I used 3/4")
  • Chalks
  • Glue
  • Fancy edge blade for trimmer or fancy edge scissors
The main stand consists of 3 pieces of card 2 cut at 7 1/2" x 9" and 1 cut at 7 1/2" x 4" this piece is scored and used as the base. Cover all of these with designer papers. The front cover is another the same size as the larger piece covered again decorated with the Year (see first photo)

Print off your month sheets (link to files below), cut them using a fancy edge blade or scissors and chalk the edges in coordinating colours to the Designer paper you have chosen. Mount them onto pieces of designer paper cut at the same size as the cover (7 1/2" x 9") decorate with your embellishments.

Assemble the stand punch the bottom of the 2 stand pieces and both sides of the small folded piece and join using the bind-it all (see last picture)

Punch the 2 top edges and the month pages making sure they all line up to fit. Hold the 2 top edges place the cover and month pages and bind this section, flip this all forward and the Planner is complete. If you want to see a video of how this is done there is a video on You Tube of someone making a similar construction in this post I made earlier of another calender.

Here are the Word Desk Planner Calender pages for you to use and print. You can make changes to them to fit your project if you wish but you may not sell them on or claim them as your own. If you make this and post photographs of it on any site please link back to my Blog to show where you found this idea. Thank you

Bind-it All Calender

I have made a start on some stocking fillers for Christmas, as these are quite time consuming its a good job I have. Now I have got the idea others should be a bit faster though.

Materials -
  • Karen Foster Calender pages
  • Core'dinations card and designer papers
  • Bind-it All and wires I used 1/2" but if you add more embellishments you may need a larger one
  • Cricut with ALphalicious cart ( you could use stamps etc for the date though)
  • Preprinted calender books, available in most stationers for about 15p
  • Nestabilities scalloped circle at 3 1/2"
  • Chalks
  • Glue and DS Tape
  • Corner rounder

First cut 3 pieces of card at 6 1/2" x 4" (cover 2 0f these) and 1 piece at 4" x 4" and cover with designer papers, the last larger piece is used as the front cover. This piece I chalked on the edges and mounted a piece of matching designer paper on (all edges are chalked to save me keep saying it) Then do your date and add that to the cover.

Cut 12 pieces of card at 6" x 4" for the month pages.
Cut the Month papers with the nestabilities
Seperate the date pages
Assemble the pages with a month circle and date sheet as per the photo's, leave a small gap at the top for the binding holes and add embellishments as you wish, but remember to make sure it will still go in the bind-it all
To Assemble
First score the 4" x 4" piece in the centre so it folds the mountain fold will go up to fold it flat
Punch both sides of this piece and the top and bottom (short sides) of the 2 designer paper covered pieces (not the front cover)
Bind the small piece on both sides to the 2 larger pieces as shown
Punch your calender pages and the cover on the top short edge.
Now arrange your pages in month order with the cover on top then bind this together and there you have your calender.
** The bottom of the calender and cover pages are NOT bound at the bottom, it won't flip over if you do!!

I think this makes sense, hopefully the photo's will help to see what I mean :-) If not this lady makes a calender which is not the same as mine but the bottom part is so you can watch that bit to see how its done here

I am going to make a box for these to go in as the binding at the folder part means they are a bit bulky for an envelope.
