Storage is the answer

I am a huge fan of Clever Cut MDF storage solutions by Ali Reeve.  I have loads of her clever things to store all my inks, ribbons and other embellishments and odds and ends that I seem to have a lot of.
Chest of boxes for my embellishments

Here are some of the items I have got and nearly all decorated in Graphic 45 one of my favourite products.  I loved the Rare Oddities collection and luckily bought a few as they are now discontinued.  Here are the pieces I have made so far.
Two units in Graphic 45 one for liquid pearls and one for ink pads

Ribbon hanging storage, too nice to use the ribbons now it makes a pretty decoration !!  It is amazing just how much ribbon you can store on this unit it holds absolutely loads

I have also used Scrapberry papers and embellishments with some paper flowers and pearls for the stacking units.  You get 4 in the set so I made a 3 stack for craft and used one for jewellery.  I found the lovely butterfly handle in a poundshop :-)  it works well for this

A This and That Box from My Creative Spirit which I bought as Newbury Craft Show last week.  I love the sliding box inside.  Think I may well use this for jewellery as well

I used Heartfelt creations Under the Sea papers, stamps and dies for this one, metal closure and hatpin and some seashells

and finally another unit from Clevercut.  I bought two of these supercute shelf units, this is the first I have finished one is still waiting for decorations.  This is Berry Cafe Heartfelt Creations paper and die's

A Fairground Gypsy Caravan

Here is the finished Gypsy Caravan I made this week.

The actual MDF caravan came from Clever Cut as a kit, it is easy to assemble.  I painted the inside of the pieces before gluing together.

I put the door on the wrong end but it isn't that much of an issue.  The whole thing is painted in soft pink and duck egg blue acrylic paints.

The flower box is made of coffee stirrers glued and painted to make a window box shape and then painted.  I put a small strip of matching paper behind and some flowers and artificial moss.  I found hot glue to be the best way to stick the flowers on.

The paper is I think Dovecraft and called Fun Fair, I had it in 12 x 12 and 8 x 8 sizes and the smaller one was better for making the stripes along the panels.  I also cut one of the fairground merry go round horses as a decoration. I also had some brass roses which I added to the wheels and harness bars.

I used a die to cut the bunting on my Big Blue die cutting machine using fabric for the curtains and flags.

60 wonderful years my Mum and Dad

Last year my parents celebrated their wedding anniversary of 60 years.  I made them this card and they also received a personal card and message from HRH The Queen which I bought a special frame for.  I am please they liked my card as much :-)

I used cream embossed card, Couture dies, white wax cream, paper flowers and a Tattered Lace card shape die

 My lovely Mum and Dad
The special card from the Queen is lovely and looks fabulous in it's Walnut frame.  It now holds pride of place in their home

Hanging Heart

I made this little MDF heart for my craftroom and it was easy to do

  • Take an MDF shape it doesn't have to be a heart but it works well for this.  Paint it with an acrylic paint and leave to dry you can then stamp a design on or alternatively you can cover with a pattern paper as I have.
  • cover the surface with clear embossing ink and dip into clear embossing powder, the thicker one is better to get texture.  Heat it to melt and add another layer while molten to give more texture.  You can sprinkle in glitter or mica powder at this melted stage for more interest.
  • Follow these steps with the other shapes, I used a tree, mushrooms a bird and the word family
  • stick these on with hot glue or glossy accents and add a ribbon for hanging

Split top box and star album

I made this for my SIL for her birthday and just wanted to share it with you.  The papers, flowers and embellishments are from Polkadoodles.  There is also gems ribbon and dies used to make some mats for the quotes (also from PD cd)

There is a tutorial and photo's of other star books I made HERE

Instructions for the box can be found at Split Coast Stampers .  It is easy to adapt the box size to fit your album or make the album to fit the box if you can't work it out.  I like to have a challenge :-)
