So what did I find at the carboot on Monday? Boxes!! lots of them and they inspired me to make this. I love houses and miniatures and this just fits the bill, a sort of Angel Condo - lol I bought the charms and was wondering what to do with them and they are just a perfect size for this little unit. Think it was for thimbles in a previous life.
Here's what I used to make this - Papers are from Crafty Individuals (Italy book and Christmas for the Angels) , Charms (from Ebay) Acrylic paint, pearliser and gesso, Grungeboard, metal embellishments, mica powders, distress paints, Strong clear glue, Cuttlebug and glossy accents.
I started by rubbing it over with fine sandpaper and painting with Gesso to make a base for the paint then I used several colours mixed with pearliser and painted it all over.I cut paper to fit in each segment for the back, top and sides and glued it in place. Then I added the charms and a layer of glossy accents to cover and left it to dryThe glossy accents are not quite dry here it will be totally clear when it is but I have no patience!I cut doors from Patterned Grungeboard and rubbed over with distress inks then added several colours of mica powder to give it a sheen. I did the same with the wings (these were Cuttlebugged), butterflies and the hinges too. I coloured the closure clasp with permanent marker and used brads to attach to the doors. The hinges are glued on for strength, the gemstone brads are just for decoration. A dragonfly was rubbed with versamark and some more mica powder and an angel on the top were added and thats about it.
Now I wonder what these will be????? Not bad for 50p each I love carboting you can get some real bargains if you think "outside of the box" excuse the pun LOL
